Tanya Aneja

counselling psychologist

I am a queer-friendly, disability-inclusive therapist, providing virtual therapy sessions under supervision. I have helped several young adults, primarily aged 18-30 years, with their mental health concerns.

Currently, I am based in Delhi, India. I completed a BSc Psychology at the University of Sheffield and an MSc Mental Health in Children and Young People: Psychological Approaches at the University of Edinburgh.

I use an eclectic approach in supporting my clients, which means I combine elements from different therapies to tailor support to your needs.

I believe you know yourself the best, and I’m here to collaborate with you to support your journey.

My approach

I believe that therapy works best when it’s collaborative—you know yourself best, and together we build on that wisdom. My role is to provide tools, insights, and a safe space where you can explore, heal, and grow.

I take a trauma-informed and flexible approach, drawing from different evidence-based therapies to fit your unique needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. Depending on what you’re working through, we might use techniques from:

I also integrate elements from other modalities when helpful, such as Internal Family Systems, Gestalt therapy, and motivational interviewing. This way, our work together is always tailored to your goals and comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session is really about getting to know you. We’ll talk about what brought you here, what you’d like to work on, and any questions or concerns you have about therapy. It’s a chance for us to see if we’re a good fit and to create a safe, comfortable space for you.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes — I offer secure video sessions and telephone appointments.
What age groups do you work with?
I currently offer therapy to young adults, primarily those aged 18-30 years. If you’re unsure whether therapy with me is the right fit, feel free to reach out, and we can talk it through.
What is your approach to therapy?
I utilise a collaborative, tailored, eclectic and evidence-based approach to supporting my clients. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a conversation, not a lecture. I use evidence-based strategies, but I always adapt them to your needs so you feel heard, understood, and supported. I believe you know yourself the best, and I am here to collaborate with you in this therapeutic relationship.
How long is a session?
Therapy sessions usually take place weekly, and each session is 60 minutes long. We’ll meet regularly, often weekly at the start, but the pace can be adjusted depending on what works best for you.
Do you assign homework between sessions?
Yes, sometimes! Depending on your goals, I may suggest simple tools or practices to try between sessions, like journaling, mindfulness exercises, or just using tools in real life. These are always optional and meant to support your growth, not add extra pressure.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes, our sessions are confidential with a few exceptions shared below. If I believe you intend to harm yourself or someone else, I am required to take steps to prevent that harm from occuring.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes, I offer a 20-minute consultation call at no cost. This is a chance for you to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and see if I’m the right therapist for you.
What should I do if I'm in crisis?
