Beginning therapy can feel uncertain. Many people worry about saying the "right" thing or whether therapy will help. In my practice I aim to create a calm, non-judgemental space where we can focus on small, practical steps as well as your bigger goals.
In early sessions we usually: agree on confidentiality, explore what brought you here, set priorities, and consider practical arrangements (session length, frequency, and online or in-person). Therapy is collaborative — I bring evidence-based tools and clinical experience, and you bring your lived knowledge of yourself.
Progress often comes from regular, consistent work and from experimenting with strategies between sessions. We regularly review what helps and adapt the approach to suit you.
Practical tips before your first session
- Try to set aside a quiet, private space for online sessions.
- Write down a couple of things you'd like to focus on — they're useful starting points.
- Be gentle with yourself; it's normal to feel nervous or unsure.
